Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Interactive Books (“Interactive Books”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use Interactive Books - the site at reduvista.com and the app at ibs.reduvista.com (together, the “Service”).

The Service is operated by Rishabh Dhingra, trading as R EduVista, Pune, India (Premdeep Building, 12 B Kondhwa Main Rd, Pune, Maharashtra 411040, India). He is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here.

The AI assistant you connect is governed by its own provider’s policy - see “The AI you connect”.

What we collect, and why

We collect only what the Service needs. Each item, and the purpose it serves:

  • Account details - the name, email address and profile picture of the Google account you sign in with, and the profile you choose (general user, teacher or student). Purpose: to create your account, sign you in and address you.
  • Your material - the documents, notes, PDFs, images and links you upload or create, and the books, sections, diagrams, videos and roadmaps built from them. Purpose: to store, display and let you work on your books.
  • Sharing details - the email addresses you share a book with, the versions you send, and the invitations you send or receive. Purpose: to deliver a shared book to the people you name.
  • Connector details - the fact that an AI assistant is connected to your account and the changes it makes to your books. Purpose: to let your assistant work on your books on your instruction.
  • Usage and device data - log data, IP address, browser type and the actions you take in the app. Purpose: security, debugging and keeping the Service running.

We do not collect payment details (the Service has no platform fee), precise location, contacts, or any data from your device beyond what your browser sends.

Cookies: we use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers on the Service.

Legal basis and consent

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, given when you sign in with Google and use the Service, and for the specific purposes listed above. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your material, disconnecting your AI assistant, or asking us to delete your account - withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

Where we must process data to comply with law, or to protect the Service and its users from abuse, we rely on that legal obligation or legitimate use instead.

Google sign-in: the Google account data we receive is used only to operate the Service, as described here, in line with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

How we use information

  • Provide, operate and maintain the Service and your books.
  • Store and display your material to you, and to the people you choose to share it with.
  • Let an AI assistant you connect read and write your books, on your instruction.
  • Provide support and send service and security notices - not marketing, unless you ask for it.
  • Detect abuse, keep the Service secure and meet our legal obligations.
  • Improve the Service - only on aggregated or de-identified data.

We do not use your material to train our own or any third party’s AI models, and we do not sell personal data.

The AI you connect

Interactive Books does not run its own AI model. You may connect an AI assistant you already use - such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any other assistant that supports such connections - through a connector URL under your own account with that provider. When you do, the assistant reads and writes your books on your instruction, and your prompts and its answers pass between your assistant and our servers.

Your relationship with the AI provider is your own: their terms and privacy policy govern what they do with your prompts and with your material once it reaches them, and that provider may process it outside India under your own account with them. We do not store your conversations with your assistant; we store the changes it makes to your books, and standard request logs for security and debugging.

You can disconnect an assistant at any time from that provider’s settings, which ends its access to your books.

How we share information

We share personal data only as needed to run the Service, with these recipients:

  • People you share with - a book you share is delivered to the email addresses you name, as a frozen version; they see the version you sent and nothing else in your space. Co-authors you add can edit the book you add them to.
  • Your AI provider - only when you connect an assistant, and only what that assistant requests on your behalf.
  • Google Cloud - our infrastructure and sign-in provider; your material is stored on Google Cloud in the India region.
  • Authorities - where required by law, court order or a lawful request, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
  • Everyone - a book you choose to publish for everyone is public: anyone can read it, and we may show or feature it as part of the Service.

We never sell personal data or your material, and we do not share them with advertisers.

Children and students

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and above, and for students under 18 through their school, college, coaching centre or a parent.

Where a teacher or institution shares a book with students under 18, they act as the person responsible for those students and must hold the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian that Indian law requires before sharing. We deliver a shared book to an email address only; we do not ask for or store a student’s age or other details to do so, and we do not track, profile or advertise to children.

If you believe a child has an account or data with us without such consent, contact us and we will remove it.

Data security and isolation

Each member’s material is logically isolated - one person’s books are never mixed with another’s, and a shared version is a separate frozen copy. Data is stored in the India region with access controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and industry-standard safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

Data breach: if a breach of personal data affects you, we will tell you without delay, in your account or by email - what happened and when, what it is likely to mean for you, what we are doing about it, what you can do to protect yourself, and who to contact. We report the breach to the Data Protection Board of India without delay, with a detailed report within 72 hours.

Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can delete books, documents and versions from the app at any time.

If you delete your account or ask us to, we erase your account data and your material, including backups, within 30 days. A version you have shared with someone remains with them until they delete it.

Indian data-protection law requires us to keep the logs of processing - access logs, request logs and the personal data tied to them - for one year from the date of processing, for security, detection of unauthorised access and legal compliance. We keep those logs for that year and then erase them, unless another law requires longer.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access - a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used.
  • Correction - correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure - delete your data, subject to legal retention.
  • Withdraw consent - at any time, as described above.
  • Grievance redressal - raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
  • Nominate - name a person who may exercise these rights for you if you are unable to.

To exercise any of these, write to the Grievance Officer below from the Google email address you sign in with - that address is how we identify your account. We acknowledge every request within 2 working days and respond in full within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India through its website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or the law changes. The current version is always posted here with its “last updated” date. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 15 days before they take effect.
